For sale is an iOS app with almost 6 million downloads and that currently gets 2,398 downloads/day. The app is quite simple, but users love it! (The specific app and niche is only available with a signed NDA)

The app has been in the App Store since June of 2010. The owner didn’t pay much attention to the app until November of 2011 when they made some ASO tweaks which immediately quintupled the daily downloads. They got serious about monetizing the app in 2015, and increased revenue dramatically. Then in 2016 they did some additional experimentation (a few of which failed miserably, like in November 2016) and ended up landing on Appodeal for ad mediation.

They have slowed their time/cash investment in the app this year, but revenue and MAU has continued to grow nearly every month since the owner dialed in some improvements early in 2017. With more focus on mediation optimization, direct ad deals, cross promotion, new features unlocked via IAP, increasing IAP conversion and other things they have yet to optimize, the app should easily cross $200k in revenue in 2018.

Marketing is through App Store search ads and free ASO optimization. Owner is seeing a 10¢ CPA on search ads and consistent organic downloads from App Store search, google search, etc.

The app has 33K DAU, ~360k monthly active users, consistently gets ~60k organic downloads a month, and is closing in on a $200k annual run rate with a combination of ads and IAP to disable ads. Users definitely love this app, the owner updated the app in early October to use the new Apple sanctioned rating prompt and it’s been working incredibly well. 4.5 stars and over 4,000 ratings!
